Underground utilities refer to any below ground line, installation or structure used by a service/ utility provider. Examples: cable, internet and telephone lines, water service and sewer lines, electrical lines, gas lines, traffic signal lines etc. You may have underground utilities in your backyard without knowing it and this can be a problem if you decide to start a digging project, even only for installing a new fence or a new mailbox. What should you do in this case? You must dial 811 to call before you dig Denver utility specialists to mark those underground utilities on your property. Even if they have been marked years ago, you must take into consideration that they can move because of the dynamic of the soil, so you should have them marked before you start any digging project. Unfortunately, surveys show that more than 50 percent of homeowners do not plan to call 811 before digging, which is worrying, because although these lines may look harmless, they can be hazardous and deadly. We cannot talk about an accident if someone creates havoc just because they have been irresponsible enough to ignore dialing 811 before starting their digging project, so there are legal implications for this.

Aeration and proper fertilization maintain lawns healthy and green throughout the year. Compacted and hard soils turn the lawn brown or yellow, while at the same time increase the apparition of weeds. Aeration reduces compaction, oxidizes the soil and allows the roots to take the appropriate nutrients and grow as vigorous as possible. With the help of a lawn aerator, the soil is perforated with small holes to allow air, water and other nutrients to reach deeper. The benefits of using a lawn aerator If not aerated, compacted soil can prevent proper lawn growth, and the grass becomes more prone to diseases and insect invasions. Lawn aeration is also an ecological practice, because a healthy lawn with dense grass blades increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere and allows you to breath a fresher air. In addition, a lawn aerator:

The establishment of an abbreviated dialing program for locating underground utilities has been in the works well before its official acceptance in the year 2005. In the United States, the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act of 2002 already required all utility services to have abbreviated numbers, but it was only three years later that the 3-digit number, 811 was established as the universal number for the 71 regional services that covered the location of utilities such as gas pipes and water mains. Before 2005, the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or any other commission or agency, had yet to assign the use of 811 to anything. At some point, calling 811 would actually reroute you to a 911 emergency call, but that practice has long been discontinued. The reason behind the FCC’s move was to ensure that regular people could have an easy way to call their local utility services before starting a project that required excavation. Since many water mains, electric cables and internet and telecommunication cables, not to mention gas pipes – which are the most dangerous of all – run underground, a sure way to prevent their damage was needed, and making it easier for people to contact their utility companies proved to be one of the most inspired choices that the FCC has made in this direction. For these reasons, it is very important you call before you dig Denver utility professionals before you start any project involving digging into your yard.

It’s not always an easy task to organize a fall landscaping project. A lot of people have a great deal of difficulty with the costs, since excavating a tree’s roots, preparing new soil or even setting up a basic rock garden can require a lot of work. Fortunately, there are some changes you can make on a low budget, until you can save up to get everything done more properly. Giving your existing garden a good makeover can be cheap, and it likely won’t require more than a few hours of outdoor work on a Sunday. You’ll just need a few gardening hose, some plants and seeds to plant or rearrange, and possibly some good natural bug repellent and fertilizer. Planting trees can also be quite cheap, and it might even earn you some praise from the city council. These days just about anything you can do to help the environment will earn you some sort of reward or tax reduction, so don’t discount the importance of installing even a smaller solar panel installation, for example, if you don’t have the money for a large one. Another great idea would be to put up some simple outdoor decorations, paint your fence or even ask your kids to prepare some arts and crafts, such as watercolor paintings and small statues that you can hang or place throughout your garden area. As you consider what projects fit into your time and budget, remember that whenever any digging or excavation is involved you must call before you dig Fort Collins location specialists to make sure area cables and pipes remain undisturbed in the digging process.
